Solar Incentives and Solar Rebates

Solar incentives are available to home and business alike.  The incentives come in the form of tax credits or cash, depending upon what state you live in. The federal government gives tax credits.  Some local states give cash or tax credits.  These tax credits can be used for alternative energy systems such as a solar electric system for your home, solar water heaters, solar thermal heating systems, wind and geothermal systems.  The US Department of Energy’s Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy set the guidelines for you to receive the incentives through your income tax return. Check out their website to get details in your area.

Solar energy costs include not just the price of the material.  It will also include the labor to install it.  According to their site, you can file your cost of the system and the cost of the installation toward your income taxes.  There is an additional form that needs to be filled out by you or your tax filer to apply for the rebates.

Don’t give up if you haven’t installed your solar powered system yet.  You may also be eligible for rebates if you made your home more energy efficient.  Did you install energy efficient windows or doors?  Did you seal you house efficient?  Did you install a high efficiency air conditioner?  The energy efficient tax credit is available for anyone who improves their home or business’ efficiency.  Making your home more efficient will save you money.  It will save you on your monthly electric bill.  And with these rebates, it will save you money on your taxes.  Are you filing for your rebates this year?
