Energy efficiency and Christmas lights don't seem to go hand in hand. But before you hang your Christmas lights, consider these facts.
First, LED (light emitting diode) lights generate less heat. That's a great advantage because it means it is not a fire hazard. Second, you can connect many strings together without exceeding the safety limits on the wiring. Everyone knows that you can not string more than three conventional lights together in a series. Third, the LED's will last a lot longer than conventional Christmas lights. The hours that traditional lights burn is about 1500 hours compared to LED's which are about 100,00. That's a big difference.
LED's may cost more initially but will run cheaper over the years. By running cheaper, they will not add much to your yearly Christmas light bill. I read that it could save you 80 to 90 percent on energy consumption and energy costs this Christmas season by using LED's. How can you save money this Christmas?
